A Historical Sketch of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church
Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1890. The cornerstone was relayed, October 31, 1915 by Dr. E. P. Jones. Dan Webster was secretary, George Charles, treasurer and Rev. J. T. Gayle, pastor. This church had several pastors; the late Reverends, J.T. Gayle, Wynn Payne, E. W. Roberts, former Rev. R. C. Addison and Rev. Olllie Blakes.

Under the leadership of Rev. C. D. Dixon, he asked, "If the church had deeds", and the answer was no. Rev. Dixon along with three (3) deacons, namely, the late Deacon Doc Hayes , the late Deacon Simon Shaw and the late Deacon Richard Turner went to the courthouse in Rolling Fork, MS to seek legal information concerning the deeds and found it was not on record. Afterward, they went to the landowner, Mrs. Ruby C. Fields, and the deeds to the church were granted. Rev. Dixon led the church faithfully until he became ill and the Lord called him home to rest on September 27, 1972.
In the year of 1976, a new piano was donated to the church by the late Deacon Richard Turner. With the help of the Lord our church building has tremendously improved. We have installed a PA system, laid carpet and tile, a steeple has been placed in the center, a new roof has been restored, air conditioners have been installed, and the pews have been upholstered. In 1992 a dining hall was built on the back of the church by Carpenter/Pastor Eugene Williams and later a handicapped ramp installed by electrician, the late James Williams. Later new storm windows were installed by carpenter William Johnson and the sanctuary
was repainted.
Later, Rev. Ollie Blakes came and preached his first sermon at the church on July 13, 2003 and became Pastor on August 10, 2003. He was installed on November 9, 2003 . Rev. Blake is one that has been anointed by God and filled with the Holy Ghost to teach and preach God’s Word and standing firm on the truth. His motto is all he has for you is the truth when it comes down to the Word of God and his weapon that he has to fight the battle with his Bible. Pastor Blakes is involved in all our church activities and our bible class is very spiritual and enlightening to all that attend.
In February 2008, another piano was donated to the church by
Sister Mary Stewart.
On Sunday, July 13, 2008 a cornerstone was laid in remembrance of our past and present pastors, deacons and secretaries of this church by St. John Lodge #2, Anguilla , MS.
May the Lord continue to bless this church family as we go through this year and the years to come!

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you". Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
"...Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith, shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses". Mark 11:22-26 (KJV)
"Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again". Luke 6:38 (KJV)
"Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it'. John 14:12-14 (KJV)
"Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not". Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)
